The UK Gambling Commission has released quarterly figures that show that internet bingo play remains steady. The survey showed that most internet bingo websites have steady player retention.
A survey by ICM Omnibus revealed that 1.1% of survey participants had played internet bingo games in the previous month and showed internet bingo to be the sixth most popular online betting activity. First in popularity was the National Lottery (7.1%), second, sports betting (2.4%), third, National Lottery scratchcards (2.4%), other lotteries including the Euro millions (1.7%), followed by internet poker (1.7%).
The number of people who had gambled on the internet rose significantly. Of the 8,000 people surveyed 9.7% reported they had gambled on the internet. They also reported that people gambled via mobile device or interactive television. The Gambling Commission said the increase was largely due to increased online sales of National Lottery tickets.
While internet bingo may have experienced a slight slowdown many internet bingo sites report increased player participation. The historic snowstorm of February 2nd sent many to internet bingo sites for entertainment while snowbound. The survey indicated that internet bingo is a close second to internet poker which remains the most popular game on the internet.

The typical internet bingo player is now a young female 20 to 50 years old. The ongoing recession has also helped the internet bingo industry. Internet bingo websites are using a variety of marketing strategies to attract these younger affluent players.
